SMOOTH ROCK FALLS CANINE SHOW
Rules and Regulations

We are pleased to have you join us at our first canine show 2019

It is important for you to understand our rules and regulations. Helping you understand the show to gain knowledge to your dogs success and hopefully make it to the winners circle.

BASIC DOG SHOW ETIQUETTE

Here are some brief pointers in basis dog show etiquette for you and your family, when you attend our first show.  This will help make our dog show experience a good one for all involved.  You will notice they are just good common sense.

ASK BEFORE YOU CLING OR FEED A DOG!

Often people have spent hours petting your dog. Other dogs in this exposure may be nervous or may not be used to being in crowds or around lots of children.  Please listen to the dog’s owner and watch for signs. Some dogs may have a nervous stomach or interpret fast movement as a sign of a threat.  Once the owner/handler have shown the dog, the dog may be more at ease and will welcome with happiness for the additional attention by petting or being around and playing with other dogs.  Be sure to always ask the owner for the correct way to approach. Owners please be alert to children going up to the dog as they may not always remember to ask.

Never let your child hug a strange dog and/or stick fingers into a dogs crate! Just like most people, dogs may not like being grabbed or hugged by strangers. Nor they may not like having strangers invade their space.  Please act accordingly.

Watch your step! We’re sure you do not want to step on any feet, noses or tails of our dogie friends. On another note, unfortunately not all dog handlers are considerate enough to clean up after their dogs. But, we know you are not like them! Likewise; particularly at an outdoor show, so it is wise to keep on your shoes and those of your children as well.

WATCHING THE SHOW

We ask that all family, friends and spectators to please stay on the outside of the ring barriers.  Each dog and handler has only moments in the ring for the judge to evaluate them and any distraction can throw their performance off.  Unless it is a child that is becoming shy or is scared can a parent go in the ring; please allow your child to have a chance to show off what they are capable of doing. Do not attempt to run in and rescue the child, but wait for the judge to call you in.

Our empty ring is not a play ground.  It is idle for a reason, either to clear or preparing for the next Handler. We will let you know when it is free play time.
